Photo Dump: Italy 2019

With the pandemic looking like it’s at its tail-end, I’m feeling hopeful we can all go back to our normal lives. Apart from running our creative business, the past two and half years seemed like it just passed by. There wasn’t much to look forward to—no road trips, no out-of-the-country travels. So as we prepare for our next adventure, here are some photos from our Italy trip I forgot to share with y’all.

Lucca

We went to Bologna, Italy for work but dedicated a few days to explore a few places as soon as our commitment was over. Our first stop—Lucca. It’s a little commune located in the Tuscany region and it was breathtaking. It had that small town charm that I absolutely loved. We climbed Torre Guinigi to get a top view of the city and biked around the entire town.

Pisa

After a couple of days in Lucca, we took a train to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower. I had been looking forward to seeing it because I only used to read about it in school when I was little. Imagine my excitement when I did not just witness it with my own eyes, but climb the tower myself! I was also surprised to learn that the Tower is surrounded by equally stunning architecture like the Pisa Cathedral aka Cattedrale Metropolitana Primaziale di Santa Maria Assunta, and the Baptistery. 

Florence

Traveling to Italy is not complete without a trip to the capital of Tuscany—Florence! We spent 3 days exploring various tourist spots. Our first stop being the Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Pitti, and the Boboli Gardens to check out the magnificent works of Italian masters.

The next day we checked out the oldest bridge in Florence. Called Ponte Vecchio, it was built in 1345. It’s amazing that it’s standing strong until today. After that we walked some more to have gelatto and attend mass at the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. I didn’t understand a single word during the mass but being Catholic, it wasn’t hard to follow.

On our last day we decided to relax a little bit and just look for Clet Abraham’s street art all over Florence. We found out about him through a documentary on Netflix and thought his work was super interesting. He stealthily transforms road signs into works of art. It was such a thrill looking for and finding a few of them during our walk around town!
