More often than not, ordinary dressers (like me) refuse to wear designs from runway shows for the following reasons:
The designs are very out-of-this-worldly, it’s quite embarrassing, instead of uplifting, wearing them in public.
They seem to be patterned to a modelesque physique alone.
The costs are pretty expensive for average earners.
The last one being the most common, which also explains why many of us sacrifice personal style. We have to admit that better-looking clothes carry hefty price tags. We have to take note though that we don’t have to buy LV or Chanel-like garments just to be considered in style; it is also a big NO-NO to buy fake ones, and worse announce that they’re authentic. There are alternatives to looking great without burning holes in your pocket, all you have to do is know the current trends and their look-alikes.
Time flies fast and soon we’ll realize fall is back, and the best labels to turn to for inspiration this season are Burberry Prorsum and Valentino. i’ll focus on Valentino in this post as I can’t get enough of the label’s 2011 pre-fall collection.
Very feminine and reserved indeed. This is something many would want to wear.
A great getup for a great day in the office
This what happens when you combine sheer cloth and leather: edgy but still delicate-looking.
Simplicity at its best.
Not very practical to wear in a very polluted area, but looks very comfy!
There are still tons of pictures but I only selected ones I would prefer to wear. To give you a general idea of Valentino’s pre-fall collection, below is a runway review by Emily Holt:
After two years at the helm of Valentino, designers Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri have solidified the Valentino look. It’s the exaggerated ruffles, folded rosettes and soft palette of butter yellow, pale pink and camel that is a steep contrast, while still being complimentary, to the Valentino red. Their pre-fall collection continued this arc with pretty, lacy cocktail frocks and trench-style coats chock-a-block with ruffles and rosettes. One recurring silhouette was a one-shoulder dress (short in yellow, or long in crimson) over a lace T-shirt, falling in line with the layering trend so present in this season’s collections. Lace was heavy in the pair’s more formal eveningwear as well. Gowns felt demure, with high necks and long sleeves in lace, and tiered, ruffle skirts to the floor. And even in the more casual looks, there was lace: lace pants and a chic ivory turtleneck with green stripes and lace overlay. Lest all that feel too delicate, the designers also introduced a new Techno Couture collection: a selection of their now-signature Valentino styles (the ruffled one-shoulder mini, the cropped zip-up jacket with rosettes on the shoulder) in sportier stretch wool to be offered at a slightly lower price point.
To be in-tune with Valentino (if you loved it as much as I did) , all you have to take note of are the prominent designs. Valentino’s pre-fall collection mostly leaned on lace, sheer tops, leather, ruffles, and turtlenecks. If you’re a demure-type of gal, the latest collection will suit you well.
Hey there! My name is Daphne and I am based in Tampa Bay, Florida.
