Nothing makes me more excited than getting stuff in the mail. It’s been a crazy, roller coaster month, but receiving the Bite Beauty #TheMatteCremeLip VoxBox from Influenster made it all bearable. Now I have new makeup to add to my stash and a new review to share to all of you! Like my Armani Beauty eye tints and Eccentrico mascara, these Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayons were sent to me complimentary by Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions are my own.

Handmade in Toronto, Canada, Bite products are made with orange peel wax as well as resveratrol, an antioxidant known to neutralize damage caused by free radicals. And in case you’re wondering, their products use food-grade ingredients so they do not contain harmful chemicals such as parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. But perhaps the best thing about this company is that they don’t test on animals–a huge plus for me.

Currently, Bite Beauty Matte Lip Crayons are available in 18 shades. I got matte lippies in three different colors: Cava, Glace, and Red Velvet. If you have olive skin with neutral undertones like me, here’s a lowdown on what to expect when you wear these shades:

Cava is basically lilac beige in color. If you’re the kind of person who likes plump, Kardashian lips, this could be for you. I noticed that shades like this tend to enhance the shape of our lips. But personally, it’s my least favorite among the three because I don’t think it fits my color. Cava looks almost identical to my skin tone, thus making me look paler than usual.

Glace, however, is awesome! I’ve been wearing it almost every day because it enhances my natural lip color while adding more character to them. The shade is similar to mauve with a tinge of brown and pink–perfect for fall season. I’m always drawn to soft, pinkish hues and Glace has been a godsend in that department.

The rich, deep red in Bite Beauty’s Red Velvet puts me in holiday mode. This has been my go-to color whenever I’m feeling bold and adventurous. It complements my skin tone really well because it’s not too bright but not too dark as well–just the right amount of red for people with neutral skin tones.

Bite Beauty Matte Lip Creme Crayons are not as matte as I expected them to be. I’d say they’re 65% matte, based on experience. Because they are infused with so many moisturizing properties like oils and different types of butter, they do not give that super dry, uncomfortable finish–and trust me, many lipstick brands do. They are indeed long-wearing and water-resistant as claimed, but not completely transfer-proof.

Each lip crayon also has a sharpener at the bottom of the tube, in case you need to sharpen it, which is a nice addition. I don’t know about you, but I like my lippies sharp.

Any Cons?

All that aside, I think some improvement should be done on the packaging. It’s difficult to identify which shade is which because all tubes look the same, with no proper color identification. The texts at the bottom are so hard to read as well.

All 18 shades are available at Sephora and retail for $24. Have you tried Bite Beauty #TheMatteCremeLip Crayons? What’s your favorite color? 🙂
