Typhoon Yolanda, with international name Haiyan, is moving closer to the Philippines, carrying “maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center, and gusts of up to 185 km/h” according to PAGASA. It is said to be one of the strongest and the most dangerous typhoons to ever hit the country.


Weather Philippines is advising that “Residents and visitors along Northeastern Mindanao, Visayas, Bicol Region and Eastern Luzon should closely monitor the development of Haiyan.” The government and LGUs have been anticipating the damage the super typhoon may cause, and as early as yesterday have posted several hotlines that the people may contact in case there is a need for rescue. I will update this list as soon as I get more information. In the meantime, please please keep yourselves, loved ones, and pets safe. Evacuate if the LGUs order you to do so. Let’s keep praying that this typhoon will weaken once it makes a landfall. It would be a miracle, but there’s nothing impossible with prayer. We have always been resilient, I know we’ll come out of this better and stronger.

    I have been monitoring the typhoon here in Canada as I have relatives in Bohol who just had the strongest earthquake last month, and they have been badly shaken and shattered, physically and emotionally, now this typhoon. I hope and pray that they will be safe. Prayers for everyone!
