Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2014 Trend Report

I’m not supposed to post anything fashion-related until next week since I feel it’s inappropriate given the current situation in central Philippines, but I saw this really beautiful hairstyle Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes shared on Instagram and I had this sudden urge to post it on my blog. I have a really faulty memory so consider this as an online reminder that I should do my own version of Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2014 hair, which Jane dubbed ‘the wood nymph hair’.

Isn’t it divine? I think it’s pretty easy to do since it doesn’t need much flowers; the only problem is I don’t know where to find faux Grecian coins. Here’s another version from D&G:

Floral crowns were all the rage last year, and I’m glad that it’s making a comeback this coming S/S, with a twist.

While I was doing my research, I decided to check out D&G’s website for their Spring 2014 collection. I missed doing it. If you’ve been following my posts since 2010, you’d remember that I used to post sort of like a runway report. I kinda missed doing that so I took a screenshot of the collection from D&G’s website. I may have shopped less than I used to but it doesn’t mean I do not appreciate designer brands anymore. And who can’t appreciate these?

I must say I’m surprised that many of the pieces are actually very wearable. The pieces have this Greco-Roman vibe going on and I love it, reminded me so much of my favorite mythologies.

And the best part is D&G showcased different pieces for various occasions. Some of the floral dresses are perfect for weddings, some for work, the beach, dinner, and even a funeral—which is great, don’t you think? Women don’t have many options during funerals, not that it should be a fashion show.

I see lots of gold and lace as well. Time to stock some “little gold dress”.

And pointed black kitten heels. Here’s more:

New Glorietta Vibe Experience

As you know, I walked last week, November 29, for Plains & Prints during the New Glorietta Vibe event. I’m a very small girl, I admit, but it has never discouraged me from attaining a dream meant for statuesque ladies alone. Like I’ve said a million times in this blog, fashion is for everyone. And I’ve always held that belief.

I know when I came to the place for the rehearsals, I’d be seeing real models and that thought excited me rather than intimidated me. I was hoping to see my favorite Filipina models Ria Bolivar, Pauline Prieto, and Jasmine Maierhofer. And I did, actually I waved at Ria Bolivar like an excited kid. I was too shy to say hi to Pauline and Jasmine, but seeing them waiting for their turn to walk the runway just beside us was enough for me. Maybe next time. Onto the show…

I met Twinie (left) and Princess (right) during the fitting and we hit it off immediately. I’d say we were almost inseparable during the event proper. Here we are smiling for Princess‘ camera while waiting for our runway ID’s.

And I met my fellow bloggers outside our holding area. Meet Kaze, Jilliane, Are, and Matt. Thanks, Matt for the photo!

After 4 hours of waiting, we finally got our ID’s and fell in line, waiting for our turn. Meet my fellow Plains & Prints models. Thanks, KC, the girl in black skirt, for letting me grab this photo. 😀

Unfortunately, it never crossed my mind to take photos, I swear. That’s what insomnia can do to you. Haha. So I am yet to find (or receive) a clear shot of me walking the runway, but here’s a screen-grab I managed to snip while watching the video (below).

Yes, that’s me. I have poor screen-grabbing skills so don’t hate. LOL.

And of course, mandatory picture after the show at the Plains & Prints shop. Below is a video of us by Rafi Quisumbing. You can find me at the 19:44 mark, that is if you wanna see me. Haha.

Indeed, 2012 has been very good to me. I made it to magazines, a billboard, and this. Above all, I met new people and great friends. Special thanks goes to the boyfriend for being simply awesome, and to the people who voted for me during the selection process—without you guys, I wouldn’t be in the event.

Models I Stalk

When I was kid, if I’m not watching foreign TV series or animes, I ogle at the models taking the catwalk at FashionTV (FTV). I clearly remember how envious I was of their lean bodies and legs that go on forever (for obvious reasons). From that same TV show I first saw Gemma Ward, who at the time was only a mere 16-year-old.

Gemma Ward

Ward in San Francisco, 15 March 2007

Ward debuted in Australia fashion week when she was only 15, and after a year, found herself walking in Prada, Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, and Calvin Klein. Her baby doll features inspired the fashion world so much, helping her become the youngest model to ever appear on Vogue alongside 2004 supermodels.

Currently, Gemma Ward, now 24, has taken an indefinite leave in the modeling scene and began pursuing an acting career. Three years ago, she became the talk of the town when she gained weight, which probably caused her to leave. I still love her, nonetheless.

Coco Rocha

I first heard of Coco Rocha when she modeled a Project Runway contestant’s winning jumpsuit. I was completely in awe at her poses as I have never actually seen anyone do those stuff in action. Her shots were featured in a Marie Claire billboard on Time Square:

Just look at those poses and faces, I mean, who does that? Apparently, Rocha, 23, does this quite often, which probably explains why she is so in demand at the moment. The industry refers to her as “The Queen of Poses.”

Sasha Pivovarova

When I first saw her, my initial thought was: “Gemma’s back!”

Apparently not, although Sasha and Gemma are always talked about online for looking like twins almost. Sasha, now 27, began her career about five years ago. Upon signing with IMG models, Prada immediately presented her with a three-year contract.

Along with Coco Rocha, Chanel Iman, and other models, this Russian model was featured in Vogue magazine cover titled “The World’s Next Top Models.”

Karlie Kloss

On the runway for Diane von Furstenberg, Spring 2009

Karlie Kloss became a legit model when she was only 14 years old (O.O). I know right. Currently 19 years old, Karlie has already walked for hundreds of high-fashion labels, among which are Givenchy, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Valentino, etc.

I like her for her quirky, fun attitude most especially when she walked for Victoria’s Secret last year. I didn’t exactly expect to see her there, but it was nice.

P.S. I know I failed to update my blog again. I couldn’t fit this in my crazy schedule at the moment. I apologize. So I made this quick post just to let you guys know that I might be “off the radar” (sort of), until the end of the month. You can follow me on Twitter though, I sometimes type absurd things there. Hoho.

Pre-Fall 2012

Just posting my top pre-fall 2012 picks. Yep, fresh off the runway.

Chloé

Reminiscent of the 60s and 70s, Chloé’s PF2012 look consisted of flowy proportions, oversized coats, and pleats. Clare Waight Keller,  Chloé’s creative director, calls her second collection “a mishmash.”

Givenchy

Lest I forget, the boots are part of the collection. Those knee-high boots are certainly to-die-for, except that we can’t wear that here in the tropics. Givenchy’s PF2012 collection is inspired of the 50s and 70s, highlighted by the jackets (which had to be the strongest looks of this collection).

Alexander Wang

Alexander Wang utilized trompe l’oeil technique in this pre-fall collection. Houndstooth patterns and glen plaids became burnout sweaters and intarsia knit dresses [source]. Wang is usually known for his street style designs, but this collection focused more on menswear-turned-chic. Key pieces were jackets, pants, and vests that remind us ladies of the office. Who says corporate attire can’t look chic? Ask Alexander Wang.

P.S. Click photos to enlarge.

P.P.S. I missed doing this. 🙂 You could pretty much guess what pieces I’m drooling over at the moment–yep, jackets 😛 Tailored jackets as fine as the ones shown above are quite hard to find, unless you’re a rich kid. And I’m not. So I guess I have to make ipon before I get my hands on those precious jackets. Oh well, I can dream. 🙂
