Juxtapose

I love recycling clothes. I don’t like pretending I have tons of clothes because I actually don’t. Chad and I just finished shooting for a couple of magazines when we took these photos. We still had a few shots left and decided to take outfit photos instead, utilizing the clothes we used for the earlier shoot, which I also happened to have worn in many of my previous blog entries.

The top is actually a dress which I have worn here and here, while the high-waisted shorts have been used here and here as well. The belt is actually from a dress that Persunmall sent me last month. Although I am quite aware this is just a plain look, I am happy that I’ve liberated myself from too much consumerism. I used to succumb to shopping a lot when I’m depressed, and the habit didn’t do me (and savings account) any good.

Chad said that consumerism kills creativity, and he’s right. When we have limited resources, we tend to remake and modify things. But if we are always provided of what we need, then it leaves no room for creativity—after all, why would we bother if everything’s handed on a platter? This realization made me miss some of the old fashion blogs. People were much more original then, although there are still a few blogs today that are driven by passion and not by consumerism. I hope they stay that way.

Holga Series: Sand in My Shoes

Hi! These are just some photos from the second set that was shot with a Holga lens. I am still amazed how the lens captured the light whenever I look at these photos. You may not see my face very clearly, but I do not want it to be the focus this time. I’m pretty sure you’re already annoyed seeing my face anyway, hoho.

If you are a frequent visitor of my blog, you’d remember this dress. It’s not a crime to wear things multiple times, you know. I’m not born with a silver spoon in my mouth, so why pretend having endless supply of clothes? Just saying. Besides, this is one of my favorite dresses but instead of heels, I opted to pair it with my trusty (and dirty) Vans sneakers, because obviously I cannot walk on the beach wearing 5-inch stilettos.

Now isn’t that just marvelous. I seldom see that kind of light and sky in the city. I think that’s the whole point of travelling and visiting places–to appreciate the work of nature.

I was so happy to finally see the ocean that I sat on the shore like a child and started filling my shoes with sand. Lol

Obligatory blogger outfit shots 😛 Make sure to come back soon for the last set of my Holga series. I promise you the last one’s going to be purrrty! 🙂

I couldn’t think of a name for the post so I used the photographer’s title instead. How lazy of me, I know. Looking at these photos I initially thought of Sunkist (90s kids know this). I look so orange-y I want to drink myself. Haha. Ugh, awkward statement.

Orange has always been my favorite color since high school. My friends can attest to that. One time during our Christmas party at school, I wore a full orange+white outfit—top, bottoms, and slippers. I looked hideous. Lol. But seriously though, for me, orange looks very fresh and soothing to the eyes. It always reminds me of summer, and we know what summer usually means, right?—FUN!

I lost a number of stuff during the shoot, more due to my clumsiness and carelessness, which I tweeted about here. Nevertheless, I tremendously enjoyed this shoot with Antonio Aguila, who I met during the Philippine Fashion Week last year. This guy is so talented he does not alter his photographs and posts them on his blog as is, except of course this collaboration of ours. He did a bit of color-grading, but it’s obvious no alterations were made on my face and body. I can actually spot the teensy flabs hahaha 🙂

Thanks again, Anton, for the wonderful photos! ‘Will be posting more pictures from this set soon.
