New Glorietta Vibe Experience

As you know, I walked last week, November 29, for Plains & Prints during the New Glorietta Vibe event. I’m a very small girl, I admit, but it has never discouraged me from attaining a dream meant for statuesque ladies alone. Like I’ve said a million times in this blog, fashion is for everyone. And I’ve always held that belief.

I know when I came to the place for the rehearsals, I’d be seeing real models and that thought excited me rather than intimidated me. I was hoping to see my favorite Filipina models Ria Bolivar, Pauline Prieto, and Jasmine Maierhofer. And I did, actually I waved at Ria Bolivar like an excited kid. I was too shy to say hi to Pauline and Jasmine, but seeing them waiting for their turn to walk the runway just beside us was enough for me. Maybe next time. Onto the show…

I met Twinie (left) and Princess (right) during the fitting and we hit it off immediately. I’d say we were almost inseparable during the event proper. Here we are smiling for Princess‘ camera while waiting for our runway ID’s.

And I met my fellow bloggers outside our holding area. Meet Kaze, Jilliane, Are, and Matt. Thanks, Matt for the photo!

After 4 hours of waiting, we finally got our ID’s and fell in line, waiting for our turn. Meet my fellow Plains & Prints models. Thanks, KC, the girl in black skirt, for letting me grab this photo. 😀

Unfortunately, it never crossed my mind to take photos, I swear. That’s what insomnia can do to you. Haha. So I am yet to find (or receive) a clear shot of me walking the runway, but here’s a screen-grab I managed to snip while watching the video (below).

Yes, that’s me. I have poor screen-grabbing skills so don’t hate. LOL.

And of course, mandatory picture after the show at the Plains & Prints shop. Below is a video of us by Rafi Quisumbing. You can find me at the 19:44 mark, that is if you wanna see me. Haha.

Indeed, 2012 has been very good to me. I made it to magazines, a billboard, and this. Above all, I met new people and great friends. Special thanks goes to the boyfriend for being simply awesome, and to the people who voted for me during the selection process—without you guys, I wouldn’t be in the event.

Good Friday

I know, I haven’t posted anything for almost a week and for that I apologize. The past week was so stressful I decided to take a small break, but that doesn’t matter anymore because I’m back. And I’m back with a bang!

I’ve always believed that there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been through many hardships and emotional blows, but they’ve never tainted my outlook on life and discouraged me in pursuing my goals. They’re like accessoriesthey give more flavor to an outfit, and in this case, life. As Leslie Caron said, In order to have great happiness you have to have great pain and unhappiness—otherwise how would you know when you’re happy?

And speaking of happiness, yesterday was a very good day for me. I received two great newsthey’re not that huge, but again for a small town girl like me, they’re a great feat already.

1. Candy Magazine’s It Girl on the Web Style Feature

I was talking to someone online when that person told me she saw me on candymag.com’s Style Files. I was so surprised because I never thought I would get chosen for a number of reasons. One, Candy Magazine is a pre-teen/teen magazine and I’m already way beyond my teenage years. Two, I am not as adventurous as other fashion bloggers. I’m a dress/t-shirt and jeans (or shorts) kind of girl and I find it impractical wearing clothes I am not comfortable in. But hey, I got picked and I couldn’t be happier. Yeahboy, that’s one tick off my checklistEarlier this year I saw myself on Chalk Magazine and on a Dove billboard.

Oh hello there, Harry Styles! 😛

I see syntax errors. Lol, sorry about that. I was in a hurry answering the questions.

Click HERE to read the whole feature. Below are some lovely comments I’ve received from people. I’m so touched. Thanks, guys! 🙂

2. New Glorietta Vibe Modelling Opportunity

I only stand 5 feet but I never saw it as a hindrance to modelling, but I also do not deny the fact that tall girls look great, if not better, on the runway. I’ve always believed, however, that there’s room for everyone in the fashion industry. Case in point, Glorietta, one of the country’s premier shopping destination, in cooperation with AVA Philippines, is currently looking for models of all shapes and sizes who will walk the runway in an attempt to break the current Guinness record for most people on the runway, which is held by New York EXPRESS I think.

Seeing this as a great opportunity, I joined yesterday.

And before the day ended, I bagged the 3rd spot! Yay!

Thanks to everyone who supported and voted for me. I really appreciate it a lot. I couldn’t have made it without all your help yesterday.

See me walk the runway on November 29, 2012 via live-stream! Tweet me @dafnyduck with the hashtag #NewGloriettaVibe as well!

Again, thanks to everyone, especially to those who shared and retweeted the link to my photo. I love you all! xx

The Blogger Gets Prada

Last week, AVA, an online shopping site that sells designer brands at a discounted price, e-mailed me. To my complete surprise, I won their promo. I was in so much shock that my officemate literally saw me stunned and frozen on my seat. Then suddenly we started screeching like kids. HAHA. It didn’t really sink in until later in the afternoon. I mean, this is the very first time I have won something without really making means to get it. Now, I’m very thankful to my long list of contacts in my e-mail addresses, if not for you guys, I may have not won this:

Yes, I won the Prada wallet because of registering and inviting my friends to sign up to AVA.com.ph! Lucky me, I know. Haha. This wallet is made of Prada’s famous saffiano leather. According to my research, this gold one can cost up to $500, which is roughly Php 20, 000. Never in my whole life could I afford something as expensive as this one. You couldn’t even convince me to buy a Php 5000 pair of shoes!

I usually despise Mondays because I’m a lazy bee like that, but today was a Monday like no other. When Ria Aquino of AVA told me that I could get my prize today, I said yes without hesitation. Afterall, who am I to make Prada wait? Hurhur :3

When I arrived at Bulb Studios where the AVA team was conducting the photo shoot for their lookbook, I couldn’t believe the people I saw:

Litol Me with Philippine’s most sought-after model Ana Sideco

I’ve been following Ana Sideco’s blog since last year. She is a member of PMAP (Professional Models Association of the Philippines) and a model in New York. Gaaah she’s so tall! And she’s very nice as well. She recently launched her own shopping site, duHub Shop.

MARGAUX ROMERO! 🙂

If you are a Candy girl like me, then you know Margaux Romero! She’s Candy magazine‘s associate editor and stylist. I’ve been dreaming to meet her since I started collecting Candy in college. I was told, however, that she’s not part of Candy anymore. That’s okay, she is still great. 🙂

Enough fan-girling. While they were shooting for the lookbook, I roamed around the studio and marveled at the dresses. Wish they were all mine! Haha. I can’t post behind-the-scenes photos yet though.

I was really aiming for the plastic bag. 😛

Hihi.

Here’s what the inside looks like:

AUTHENTICITY CARD: Knock-offs don’t have this. 🙂

Ah, I’ll definitely never forget this day. Thank you, AVA!

Do not forget to shop at AVA and duHub, guys! Like and follow AVA on Facebook and Twitter, too. 🙂
