Afterparty

Say hello to the 25-year-old me! Many people today don’t like revealing their age after turning 21 or 24; I, even, used to be one of them. But I’ve come to terms with the fact that humans grow older every year. Why hide something that’s natural?

So this is me–a year older and definitely a year wiser. I just celebrated my birthday on August 5 and it was, by far, the best birthday I’ve had. When I was a kid, I never had birthday parties. We couldn’t even afford a cake, so I was used to letting the day pass by. But of course, I’d always wish for a better birthday. I finally got it this year and I couldn’t be more grateful. 🙂

The celebration was a little unplanned, but I’m glad I and my family did it. I was not supposed to go home for my birthday, like the past three years, but my grandma was ill and was looking for me. Who am I to refuse such request? So I traveled to Naga City and stayed there for a week. And I’m glad I did.

I prepared my special spaghetti carbonara, my sister and my best friend brought 2 cakes, and my mom and Chad (through Skype) bought me presents. I was with family, loved ones, and friends in our soon-to-be-finished home… it was the best birthday ever. Nothing beats celebrating with the people that really matter. We may have differing characters and opinions on things, which at times cause misunderstandings, but they, especially my family, have always been there for me. I’m a difficult, ambitious person, but my family never ran out of support in my endeavors. That’s why they’ve always been my number one priority; everything that I do is for them.

So what’s next for Daphne? I don’t know yet, but knowing myself, I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing something bold again. Just last month I took sewing classes and this wine red skater skirt I’m wearing is just the first of my many sewing projects. You’ll be seeing more of my ‘creations’ in this blog and in my future OOTDs–that’s for sure.  This skirt is pretty easy to make and a perfect project for sewing beginners like me. You can view the tutorial I shared here.

By the way I finally managed to take my own OOTD using my Canon AE-1 film camera’s timer setting. Needs a little getting used to though. How do you like the outcome? 🙂

Blue

I know summer is supposed to be fun and pink and all, but this week has been unbelievably stressful that I didn’t get as much sleep. Fortunately, I was done with my final project and was able to submit it to my professor 10 minutes before the deadline. Imagine my relief when I thought I was late!

So my face says it all. But I feel a looot better now though. I hit the sack yesterday at around 6PM (yesss, that early!) and woke up at around 5AM today. Awesome sleep is awesome. I feel like a newly freed prisoner. Haha.

Peek-a-boo! I really love this top I bought at Forever 21. Blogger Domz spotted it when she styled me for the Face Affair. This didn’t make the cut though so I purchased it instead. Isn’t it gooorgeous? Tops or dresses with “sexy backs” can still look decent if the front has a modest cut, see?

I’ve always believed that less is more (not in clothing though, heh). I can go out of the house sans jewelry, you never even see me overaccessorize. If I’m wearing rings, I seldom wear bracelets. I’m quite small so I think too much accessories would make me look more like a dwarf. To compensate for the lack of height though, I wear heels. Would you believe that I have more pairs of heels than flats? 😛

How I Wear My Man’s Shirt

I’ve been wearing this shirt almost every week since I bought it last year.

One thing I love about oversized garments, in this case a shirt from Bench’s men’s department (yes, with glitters), is they are very easy to wear. I don’t have to worry about my tummy protruding whenever I overeat.

Despite this shirt being tailored for men, it does not mean one cannot make it suitable for ladies as well. This shirt could easily be mistaken for a woman’s though, perhaps due to the color and the glitters. But then again, the cut and proportions are meant for medium-built boys, so I often tuck this in or wear it with daisy dukes or skirts. Hello, Gadybee glasses and beanie!

And of course, heels always make every look more ladylike.

My new job has literally changed my sleeping habits, I was up all night yesterday. Sad to say, I have noticed my eyes are looking duller. My ultimate solution for this problem, aside from eye creams and what not, is liquid eyeliner. For some reason, it always makes the eyes look livelier. I painted the upper contours of my eyes with thick black liner and voila!—no more dead eyes. I do not like putting pencil liners on my lower lids, it makes my eyes look droopy, which is obviously not gonna help with my situation at the moment.
