Juxtapose

I love recycling clothes. I don’t like pretending I have tons of clothes because I actually don’t. Chad and I just finished shooting for a couple of magazines when we took these photos. We still had a few shots left and decided to take outfit photos instead, utilizing the clothes we used for the earlier shoot, which I also happened to have worn in many of my previous blog entries.

The top is actually a dress which I have worn here and here, while the high-waisted shorts have been used here and here as well. The belt is actually from a dress that Persunmall sent me last month. Although I am quite aware this is just a plain look, I am happy that I’ve liberated myself from too much consumerism. I used to succumb to shopping a lot when I’m depressed, and the habit didn’t do me (and savings account) any good.

Chad said that consumerism kills creativity, and he’s right. When we have limited resources, we tend to remake and modify things. But if we are always provided of what we need, then it leaves no room for creativityβ€”after all, why would we bother if everything’s handed on a platter? This realization made me miss some of the old fashion blogs. People were much more original then, although there are still a few blogs today that are driven by passion and not by consumerism. I hope they stay that way.

  • Love the outfit, Ate Daf ? But I was so inspired by this: ” I love recycling clothes. I don’t like pretending I have tons of clothes because I actually don’t.” and this: “Chad said that consumerism kills creativity, and he’s right. When we have limited resources, we tend to remake and modify things. ” Indeed, fashion is not about having tons of clothes and shoes, its all about creativity. :”> Thumbs up for this very inspiring post. Looking forward to see you soon. πŸ™‚

    • Likewise, Dianne! I’m glad you share my sentiments. Fashion after all is art; and to create art, one must use his imagination. πŸ™‚

It’s true, there are so many blogs today that are just… unoriginal, or don’t seem to even be trying to hold their content to any sort of standard. Although, to be honest, in the old days they might have all been around too – I just only followed the bigger blogs, and I wasn’t aware of all the smaller ones.

    • You’re probably right. The only difference is that back then, people blog because they like to express their passion. Nowadays, you won’t really know what people’s real intentions are. But of course, I know there are still many passionate fashion bloggers out there. πŸ™‚

  • Anmari

It’s not a matter of having a lot or not, important thing is you have the ability to maximize what you have. I’m also trying to re-se old stuff coz aside from depleting my budget, shopping is clogging my closet and forces me to get rid of some still good stuff. impt things to ponder πŸ™‚

    • I couldn’t agree, Anmari. I had been looking for that word, maximize, while I was writing this entry. Thank you! πŸ™‚
