Lust for Life

I’ve had a rough week. Actually, it’s been going on for months now and that’s mainly because I’ve made choices that demand everything I have. I feel good about it though—that only means I’m much braver and more aggressive now in pursuing my dreams. As Richard Nixon once said,

If you take no risks, you will suffer no defeats. But if you take no risks, you win no victories.

That applies to fashion as well. I’ve read a lot of times online that long skirts are not advisable for petite women like me. They say it makes us look smaller. Heck no, although I did subscribe to that rule in the past. I avoided anything that fell below my knees. And then one day I just got tired of wearing shorter skirts and decided to try on longer ones in 2011.

My first ever long skirt is this black maxi from Forever 21, which I bought online. Black gives a slimmed down illusion so it helps petite girls look less wide. I used to pair it with oversized shirts, which apparently didn’t work.

I always try to make my outfits look balanced. And since a maxi skirt covers the whole lower extremity of the body, why not show a little bit of skin up there. (*wink*) A tank top or bustier looks great with maxis, IMO.

See, if I didn’t take that risk, I would have not known that small girls like me can wear maxi skirts. I don’t even think I look shorter. What about you?

Spring/Summer Wishlist

Spring and summer is just a few days away and I have been mentally rearranging my closet. Lol. I still need a number of items though and below are the stuff I’m aiming to get before the spring-summer season begins.

Spring Clothing

1.Splendid Straps 7/10 Pants 2. Mickey Mouse Print Slim Jean Shirt 3. Sweet Cat Bowknot Pattern Sweater Black

These are not exactly summer-y but the denim suit and top reminds me of those in the country, toiling the soil while the sun’s high. And the cat sweater is perfect in the office. Our employers do not require us to wear suits and what not, as long as we look decent. It’s pretty cold in my office and having a cat sweater would be great.

Spring Shoes

4. Suede Round-Toe Wedge Pumps Red 5. Stud Details Lace-up Martin Boots

Pastels and muted colors are on trend this spring, and these coral suede pumps will make any outfit instantly girly, which is exactly my style. Although sometimes, I’d like to wear boots when I feel too lazy to dress up. I’ve worn out my two black booties and these lace-up boots would be a great alternative.

Spring Accessories

6. Rhinestone Elements Bracelet 7. Rhinestone Elements Bear Necklace 8. Pure Color Rivets Detail Tote Bag

I don’t wear accessories that much, but when I do, I always go for cute, sparkly ones such as the rhinestone bracelet and bear necklace above. They say a woman cannot have too many bags, and this studded pink tote bag would definitely make a good addition to my growing number of bags at home.

So what are your spring/summer outfit wishlist? Check out Persunmall.com, maybe they have what you’re looking for. Feel free to share your wishlist below! 🙂

Analog Love

I mentioned last week that Chad and I have something to announce. People speculated we’re getting married—made me realize I should have phrased it better. We had a good laugh though. Unfortunately, we’re not… yet, but we did launch Analog Love Project on Tuesday and received great response from people. A big thanks goes out to those 250 people who liked our Facebook page and checked out the Analog Love Project site. If you are analog junkies like us, and you’re looking for people who can preserve your memories in legit film photographs and polaroids, we can be of service to you. 🙂

And speaking of film, we used our new-found film for yesterday’s OOTD and magazine shoot—Kodak Pro Image. The pictures turned out really good and we’re excited to see the photos online.

I wore this really pretty dress from Persunmall. I love the whole cape thing going on. Persunmall is a global online shopping site that has it’s own garment factory and in-house design team, so online shoppers are assured that they will get the exact same item displayed on their site. Cool, huh? Plus, their marketing and customer service staff are very kind, they attend to customer’s concern right away. I had a small problem with my credit card and they addressed the problem immediately.

The dress came with this really adorable starfish cuff. I’m not really into bracelets and arm candies and stuff, but I make exceptions when the item’s too cute to resist. Case in point, this starfish cuff. It’s very sturdy, too. I dropped it a lot of times while we were shooting and it didn’t even have a single scratch. How’s that for quality? 🙂

Here’s Chad and I with Ana and Marthe after our magazine shoot yesterday. Excuse our tired faces. We had so much fun though! 🙂

Looking Good, Heading Out!

When you are ready to look your best, you likely have that perfect outfit in the closet. However, no matter how much you love your sparkly sequined dress, it is simply not going to fly in some situations. The truth of the matter is that looking your best at various events means dressing to suit. Fortunately for you, this does not mean that you need to build an outfit from the ground up every time or that you need to spend hundreds of dollars on your wardrobe! Take a moment to consider what your options are, and what you can add to every outfit to set it apart from the rest. As always, eyeglasses and sunglasses are a must when it comes to completing your look. Here are some perfect clothing and glasses pairings for any occasion!

Gone Shopping

Okay, you’re heading out shopping; you don’t necessarily need to look your best, do you? The truth is that even when you are shopping for more clothes, it is worth your time to look your best. It keeps things bright and cheerful and it gives you a sense of occasion. Remember that if you are going clothes shopping, you need things that are easy to take on and off. Start with a stretchy top that you can easily pull over your head and match it with a pair of your favorite jeans. Don’t choose anything that is too tight or restrictive, and make sure that you pick a nice pair of slip on shoes, and a pair of Pierce frames in oakwood brown to complete the look.

Family Get Together

There’s always a little bit of stress when you are getting together with your family. You might be remembering teenage fights about clothes that were too revealing or even too dowdy, and across the board, you’ll find that it is far better to err on the side of conservative. Choose a longer skirt that falls beneath the knee, and top it off with a tank top and cardigan set. If you want to punch it up a little, consider stockings in bright color, mary jane’s with clunky heels, and some vintage inspired frames such as the blonde tortoise Fitz.

Concert Fun

Whether you love pop or rock, you’ll find that a concert is a fantastic place to cut loose. If you are dead set on wearing your band t-shirt, there is no reason that you can’t brush on the eighties glam. Match your band shirt with a short skirt, black stockings and high boots if you know you don’t need to be walking much. Sunglasses are a must at any concert, indoors or out. Everett frames in gimlet tortoise are perfect for any stage-diving shenanigans.
